Why Blizzard Brought Back WoW Classic After Saying No
WoW Classic exists because expansions kept deleting what you loved.
In 2008, Blizzard's Drysc rejected legacy servers. His reason: "We'd effectively be developing and supporting two different games." Except every expansion cut something. The Burning Crusade erased Kazzak and his loot. Wrath of the Lich King removed old Naxxramas and Onyxia.
Blizzard announced Classic at BlizzCon 2017, and it launched in 2019.
The contrast: Set that 2008 refusal against 2019, when Classic won PC Game of the Year at the Golden Joysticks. If your favorite raid vanished, you got it back.
