StarCraft: Why Blizzard Keeps Reviving StarCraft
Why does Blizzard keep reviving the 1998 StarCraft?
At E3 1996, critics dismissed it as "Warcraft in space." So Blizzard rebuilt it around three distinct species. That rebuild paid off. It sold more than 11 million copies, and South Korea turned its multiplayer into televised tournaments.
Then Remastered arrived in August 2017 with ultra-HD graphics and the same old gameplay. Cartooned redrew it again in 2019.
The verdict: Granted, the article never quotes Blizzard's reason, but we think the game you loved simply still works.
