How Cyberpunk 2077 Came Back From Its Broken Launch
Cyberpunk 2077 launched broken in December 2020. Today, over 120,000 people are playing it on Steam. How?
The comeback came in waves. Proper PS5 and Xbox Series versions finally landed in February 2022, after their own delay. Then Netflix's Edgerunners anime premiered in September 2022, and gave Night City a second first impression.
Phantom Liberty followed in September 2023. By June 2025, it was a Switch 2 launch title.
The verdict: In fairness, those launch scars were earned. But patches, one anime and an expansion turned a punchline into a staple.
