Why Rockstar Never Made a San Andreas Sequel

San Andreas sold 4.5 million copies in one week. Rockstar never made a sequel.

In 2008, GTA IV started a brand new continuity, built on realism and detail, not CJ's world. Then GTA V rebuilt Los Santos in 2013. San Fierro and Las Venturas got cut entirely.

Dan Houser felt three cities limited how well they captured Los Angeles. Aaron Garbut called it a backdrop.

The verdict: In fairness, CJ isn't forgotten: 991 people are playing the $59.99 Definitive Edition on Steam today. But each GTA era is its own universe, and his belongs to the old one.
