Resident Evil Requiem's PS5 Discs Out-Earned All of Xbox
Resident Evil Requiem's PS5 discs alone out-earned every Xbox copy combined, nearly twice over.
According to Alinea Analytics' Rhys Elliott, 1.3 million physical PS5 copies made Capcom 1.8 times its entire Xbox revenue. That's Xbox digital, physical and PC combined. Discs made up 30.2% of Requiem's PlayStation revenue.
Overall, it's sold 8 million copies, the fastest launch in series history.
Why it matters: Here's the awkward part. Sony reportedly plans to stop making new discs in 2028. In fairness, Capcom doesn't seem worried. But we think dropping a format worth 15% of the year's biggest game is a bold bet.
