Gears of War E-Day skipped PS5, yet Xbox sales fell.
UK Xbox sales dropped 22% in October, according to NielsenIQ. That's the month E-Day launched. And Britain isn't the outlier. Circana analyst Mat Piscatella saw no uplift in the US.
The comparison: Wolverine got one launch month too. Despite mixed reviews, it lifted PS5 sales above September 2025, and Piscatella called it about as good as you could hope. Gears moved nothing. If you were waiting for a reason to buy a Series X, this wasn't it.
